Getting Started Guide

The way to get started in the world of Exodus Online is to click the "Download" link.  Download the client via the button, and launch ExodusOnlineJWS (the default location for this is in C:/Program Files/Exodus Online/).  Put in any username and password on the title screen, and click the Login button. If the server is running, you will start on Long Island, on the planet Terre Verte.

Your mission: explore Long Island, and find if it is suitable for human life. The best way to get started on Terre Verte is to dive in head-first.  The controls are relatively intuitive.  The buttons at the top of the screen are called Interface Controls, or ICs. The ICs will affect your user interface.  Also at the top of the screen is the Logout button, which will return you to the title screen.

The green probe, CH-006, runs a storage facility where you can trade credits for items that you can see in your inventory, viewable by pressing one of the ICs.

You are a red probe classified as EPD-33. When the Exploration Pod was launched to Terre Verte, many of these red probes were sent out to scan for good building site locations.

Welcome...

to the website of Exodus Online, a free MMORPG coded in OpenGL and Java.  We are currently in early Beta stages, but you can still download and run the game. The server is up on occasion, please inquire about this on the forums if you are interested.

If you really want to lend a helping hand, you can visit the forums and sign up as a developer.  You may then be given access to portions of the source code if you are a programmer; you will be given concept art, etc., if you are a modeler; un-textured or partially-textured models for a texturer; you may be given simply vague ideas if you are a composer.  Or, to really influence the game in a positive way, and if you are a good Java or 3D programmer, please visit www.xith.org, the home website for our game engine.  We always need help with animations and other new features...

Hope you enjoy your stay here!  --Adam "Kukanani" Allevato
